2028 New Deacon Nominations
Church members are invited to nominate qualified individuals for election as Deacon or Deaconess of the church, whose active service would begin in 2028. (Nominating deacons is a privilege reserved for members. If you are uncertain of your membership status or are interested in membership, please note this in the comments section at the bottom of the form.)
Please submit a separate nomination form for each person you are nominating. Nominations may be submitted October 11 through November 1, 2026.
Please verify that the candidate is qualified by checking each qualification:
An Active Deacon must be at least 27 years of age as of January 1, 2028
A full member of the church in good standing for 3 years as of January 1, 2028.
They have demonstrated exemplary faith, character, and spiritual ministry (1 Timothy 3:8-13)
8 Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. 9 They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 11 Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. 13 For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
Can you verify the candidate’s character and gifting is in accord with the duties of a deacon?
An Active Deacon, chosen by the Church as a volunteer, shall be a member of the Board of Officers, who serves the Church in partnership with the Pastors and Elders, charged with overseeing all ministries of the Church, visiting, comforting, encouraging, and praying for the Church Members.
In addition, the Active Deacon bears the responsibility to conduct all work necessary in preparation for and conduct of worship, fellowship in love among Church members, implementation of plans, necessary business matters of missions within and outside of the Church, work relating to faith and Bible study training, various business matters for relief and community services, collection of Church offerings, and management and preservation of personal and real property as well as other assets of the Church (Acts 6:1-3).
